I was driving the other way.
The only reason to go up the main road of Polhill (as opposed to the Old Polhill) is if you're doing the Ramekin's FTP Nightmare segment.

After that it was a grand tour of the absolute armpit of SE London.

Yeah, I was feeling really tired this morning. I did wonder whether it might have been my slowest commute for a while. It's down to the Jesus diet innit.

Ha ha.
I've only started going that way for the past couple of weeks. Usually I head straight down the A4 through Earls Court to Hammersmith, but am having to take the commute so gingerly at the moment that dicing with heavy traffic while ambling along wasn't really a good idea.

Yeah, must be tricky finding a good route that heads out that way. When I worked in Hounslow for a while I was lucky in that I was going from Wandsworth, so could head through Richmond Park and quieter back-streets, and only then head over Kew Bridge onto the main roads.

The worst bit is the final stretch from Brentford to Sky. It's either take on the broken bottle strewn cycle lanes alongside the A4, or go up the moon crater surface of Syon Lane then across the A4.
One evening last year I was so pissed off with work and the fact that it was chucking it down with rain I decided to jump on the A4 and take it straight back to London. Pretty certain I did a record time that night.

He did better than Chloe, David and Scott.
Top marks to Jamie.
Polhill is the cheats way home. I'm not surprised at Malcolm's route choice.
