  • Fuck knows. Canyon on crack yo

  • Might make sense for some 300 mile US gravel event

  • How?

  • @Demeaux and I are veterans of long distance gravel rides, we survived with regular handlebars.

  • I dunno, interesting bit of bullshit. Looks weird.

"Riding over uneven surfaces is more comfortable if there’s some bump adsorption in the front end and in the saddle, and most of the time you will be riding on the tops or the hoods.

But there’s a paradox, as the bar tops are most closely connected to the stem and to the rest of the bike and so are their least flexible part. On the other hand, the drops, where precision is most important, as you are normally riding faster, are the least rigid part of the bar.

So Canyon has turned things around in the Grail. The all-carbon one-piece bar is connected to the steerer in the drops, while the tops are suspended above. This, Canyon says, adds about seven times the flex of a conventional set-up, increasing bar comfort on longer rides on rough surfaces.

  • Ha. That's cos you had regular breaks for Damo's inflation issues.

  • It is a baffling design, so intrigued. Will look it up when not at work.

  • tldr - top bit is bouncy, drops are stiffer

  • We should get this sorted for this year yeah?
Can we make it an epic of some sort?

  • Is there a browser plugin that will block any more shit ideas related to 'gravel'?

  • All bikes should only ever look like Maurice Garin's 1903 Tour de France bike.

  • We need a GrumpGravel expedition, led by @Demeaux and powered by fig rolls.

That handlebar is daft. G-Ones on point tho 👌

  • Gravel is weapons.

  • Yes we should.

    To make it even more epic we could;

    a) make it a return journey
    b) continue to the seaside
    c) do it at night
    d) ?

  • I’m going to the Tatra Mountains in Poland in May for a Gravel Weapon adaventure twat weekend.

    Are fig rolls a requirement?

  • You'll need to grow a beard.

  • Poland needs invading again.

  • I am not able to do this as yet.
    I come from a sub-standard gene pool.

  • Have you got a tin mug?

  • Return would be boff.

Not sure I could manage that atm. mebbe seaside? I do like an ice cream. And chips.

  • Is this Poland trip the beginning of 'can actually ride and not be a little fatty Bobby' getting ready for the Dolimites trip?

  • We could add on the Crab and Winkle Way after Canterbury and finish in Whitstable.

  • That could work....
I could persuade Alex to meet me there with the kids maybe.

Anyway. I just mounted those hyper voyagers on that wheelset. Yard looks like a bukake crime scene. The tyres went on easily, I just am messy.

Wish I had more time to get rotors, cassette, and guards on.
    Sigh.
