How much dorrah you wanna spend?
-
• #1729
£3k tops really
-
• #1730
DO NOT SPEND £3K ON A BOWMAN.
Please. For the love of all that's good.

What do you want Dommy?
Mudguards?
Discs?
Shimano?
Up to 35c tyres?Kinesis?
Genesis?Don't tell anyone, but I quite liked John's bike on last week's badger attack.

Rather than a Bowman or similar. What about a CAAD12 ultegra disc?
-
• #1733
also kinda biased for the dollar with no discounting
-
• #1734
I don’t think that would be possible tbh.
If I can get what I want for less all the better
-
• #1735
Yeah all that but not in a tank type heavyweight package.
That’s why the carbon Synapses are attractive.
-
• #1736
Jon's frame/fork were $2750 and he had to leave them in Kentucky for a month until I could bring them back to London for free.

I'm not sure, but I seem to remember dubtap rating these very highly. -

Exclusivity comes with certain costs.

@dommyracer Has Sir considered Titanium as a material? I'm not sure, but as one ages, I believe it becomes more appealing.
-
• #1740
Not really tbh
-
• #1741
Will also said he had a hire and it was a great bike.
If a Synapse is good enough for Sagan to lose Paris-Roubaix on, it's good enough for me to fall off.
-
• #1742
Go to Evans and book a test ride.
At least that much is possible.
Sagan’s “synapse” is totally custom tho.

Ultegra Di2 is lowest spec I would go.

Good old Giant Defy is a well rounded choice. There is still a 10% discount at Giant St Pauls too.
I believe they do specific mudguards for the Defy as well, although it might only be for the Alu model.

spending other people's money

I did a fair bit of research before getting the CAAd12 a few months ago. The Caad12 Ultegra, Giant Defy Advanced 2 and Trek Emonda SL6 all get consistently great reviews.

If you can manage to get past Nick et al taking the piss out of a Trek you will find this is pretty perfect. Ridiculously comfy, takes 32mm tyres and full mudguards.
I would recommend you try one of these out.
If not I would go for the Synapse or the new Roubaix. Endurance geo for the man who wants to go fast on shit roads.

Hope you are healing after your recent altercation with nature Dommy

• #1749
That trek is butters.

I don't see the point of recommending Dommy a bike on what someone thinks looks good or ugly. Just on what his needs are.
Sounds like the badger already broke you.
