I agree.
But a man's got to have a code. -
• #1753
Yes indeed.

Actually a pretty pony spec on the Ultegra Di2.
The mechanical SE version is better. But doesn't seem to be many about.
Might sit it out for a while. Even though Evans are offering £350 trade in on any old BSO

That's actually alright, as Treks go.

It’s a great ride. As a cyclist gets towards middle age he is less interested in the form and more interested in the function. We can’t all order our whip from De Rosa
-
• #1757
I’ve always been about function, I leave my face to do the sexy stuff.
-
• #1758
Is that working?
-
• #1759
lolllzzz
-
• #1760
Sexy levers though.

• #1761
Good deal. Could prolly find it cheaper with some mild googling.

Or get a Volare Disc. Great bikes.

If you want full mudguard calability ou are limiting yourself to ugly bikes, full mamil wagons and weird middle of the road gravel/winter bike things like the Specialized Diverge.

Buy something nice, put the Roubaix in the garage until winter. When winter comes put the nice bike in the garage and get the Roubaix out.
Most bikes labelled as ‘all rounders’ are generally crap at most things, and good at none. The magical perfect all year round lightweight/ fast/comfortable/ practical master of all trades bike you want does not exist, and probably never will because bike companies will be shooting themselves in the foot by making one.

Puts Isen in bin
-
• #1766
Isen is a winter bike isn’t it?
-
• #1767
You only have to see Jay's face when he is forced to ride the Kinesis to get Bobby's point though.
-
• #1768
Yes but that is not a fun bike.
I really like my Bob Jackson - it’s heavy but quite nice to ride. Built for a purpose.

Labelled an All Season bike. The paint works hides that look of clumsiness that comes for the extra spacing, etc, just. Bonus is that it's nice to ride.
-
• #1770
So.....a nice winter bike then?
-
• #1771
A bike for every occasion. That's what I say.
-
• #1772
The synapse had it covered til I found out about the asymmetric B.B. nonsense
Just saw a lovely Isen tho
-
• #1773
Did you buy tho?

Not a project, but didn't want to start a new thread.

Are you set on running disc brakes?
Rim brake bikes are cheaper. And, in my opinion, still better.
