  • It's looking unlikely that there will be an official club run this week due to the bank holiday and so I'm planning this for Sunday 4th September. I haven't got a route yet but it may be a spin out to Windsor or the airport loop unless anyone has any other thoughts. The idea is to invite some new members and get some of us older folks out on the bike again after a long summer.

  • If I send a link can non-members read this thread?

  • Yep. All threads apart from the members club house are public so send the thread. Non members can read but can't post or sign up.

  • I'm in!

  • What kind of time do you think we will finish?

  • Not sure yet as route not planned. What time do you need to be back?

  • Or are you just planning to meet us at the end of the ride with a seasonal cheeseboard?

  • My +1 needs to catch a train at 3pm.

  • Better be back and wrapped up way before 3pm. Where are they catching the train from?

  • Yeah, I would guess definitely back at RP by 1pm.

  • Hope so. Sarah wants to meet for lunch afterwards. I feel a finish at Dynamo.

  • I'm away from Friday and all next week doing a six day coastal walk up in Northumbria.

  • Your riding buddy is welcome to come still if he wants. See you soon.

  • +1 new rider, Pete, will be joining us.

  • +1 new rider, Guy.

  • I going to change the route from Windsor to one around 55kms as I want this to be a nice social ride of a manageable distance. Dave Mac has a nice looking one in mind and is going to ride it on today to check it out and see how busy the roads feel. I'm sure he'll post the route later today or tomorrow.

  • Sweet

  • @Nath a shorter route should also help with your +1's train timings.

  • I've got 2 now!
Matt (coming with me to Gent) and Dan (another one).

  • look at you showing off! nice moves.

  • +1 new rider, Jon.

  • How many newbies so far then? Gonna be busy!

  • I think 5 so far, be great to see some new faces.

  • My nice run out towards Esher and surrounds hit a problem during my recce today in that what I thought looked the ideal cycling lanes are in fact private roads which despite my efforts aren't ridable due to security gates . The alternative roads are not nice at all for a group.

Below is the planned route for Sunday , its 38 miles in total from Richmond Park finishing at Dynamo . Its flat and suitable for all standards , depending on numbers we can split into 2 groups to manage the traffic.

The plan is if everyone finds this more that doable , we can look to increase the miles in following weeks and do the standard Boxhill Dash.

Depart promptly at 9am from the cafe . Please bring tubes, pump, water and good vibes.
