I may persevere...
However, I'm not sure I really like central float, and the lack of friction. My right foot in particular twists a little through the pedal stroke, and the free movement of Speedplays feels a little odd.
I think I'm generally better with frontal float where the toe is fixed at the front, and the foot twists around that point. And the resistance makes it easier for me to centre my foot.
