I seem to remember an article in the comic discussing the esoteric nature of a winter bike, and how it should feature all sorts of weird things. Mismatched shifters, 8 speed block, mudguards. Saddle with no cover or something.
Yes indeed - which is why I think the fog cutter is too much...
I did buy that CX crockett but would quite like a full time mudguard road bike for grim weather lane bashing...
Will see what else pops up...
If you want a cheaper all round winter steel hack then you could get something like a Genesis frameset.
