  • This man speaks sense. Getting a cheaper bike and riding it a lot will probably be better in the long term as you'll learn what you actually need compared to what you think you need. Then, if you want to get spendy, you'll know what you really want.

  • Plus, if you get a cross bike. You're always fucking spending on the latest tyres or wheels fad.
    You'll need budget for that.

  • Get one of these for £2100

  • That is butters.

  • Is butters good or bad?

  • cos of da seetpost?

  • ah the new Specialized Abberation

  • That seatpost has got snap written all over it.

  • That seatpost has grown on me tbh. It's supposed to be quite effective.

  • Seatpost best looking thing up there.

  • Evryfink.

Those angles, the tubing, the colours.

  • This is snazzy

  • Is that some sort of rubber bung up in the bend near the seat clamp?

  • Yeah, it's an elastomer.

  • Could probably get a deal on that Scott.

  • As in they'd pay you to have it?

  • Thanks mate for this - very helpful indeed...

I currently dont have much time or inclination to be a proper tinkerer so when I buy this I probably wont mess with it too much.

I have been really happy to ride on bikes that have some older parts eg My current BMC SLR01 is a 2013 stock bike from Evans (I bought second hand off ebay in 'as new' condition) with Ultegra 6700 10 spd and those crazy cut out mavic kyrsium elites.. Cant say I've done much but maintain it and change bar tape but have loved every minute on it..

So I know I will be more than happy with something along the lines of the following:

A cross bike with decent clearances ideally not more than 3 or 3.5k all in
Some decent handbuilt carbon disc ready wheels (tubeless comp) not fussed about zipps etc
I defo want hydro brakes and di2...

Bobbies bike looks unreal and would be perfect but likely more than I want to spend

  • Hows that? Retail seems to again be around the 5k mark.....

  • what's this called?

  • Giant. Go see Giant.

  • My bike cost £2173.

  • wow that seems remarkable @Bobbiego

But how much would it cost me without the benefit of your wondrous connections?

Maybe this is worth exploring after all??

  • I'm not really sure to be honest.

  • I've never really given it too much thought.

I think list price on the frame is circa £2k.

The Enve fork is something ridiculous like £700 RRP. Prolly more now thanks to brexit. I don't know anyone stupid enough to actually pay retail for Enve though.

Wheels were £500, but I think that's cost price. Light bicycle rims on bitex hubs, built by Gav at August.

Not sure what RRP is on Ultegra Di2 with R785 brake kit is these days.
