  • I’ve put together a route around the Chilterns which is circa 95 km.

It’s a pretty easy TBH, some nice steady climbs and long descents with a nice stop for refreshments in Warren Row on way back.

    You have two options:

Groupsave train from Waterloo to Eton, where ride will start (Costa Coffee) circa 9:30; OR

Ride to Eton from Richmond, which I think I will most likely do. This adds further 35km + your journey to Richmond.

Plan is to train back from Eton to central London.

If you’d like to come along please add yourself to event.

Here is the indicative route profile, although I need to tidy up way back as it goes via Maidenhead. There is also a gravel section which I may take out weather dependent closer to date.

    ROUTE UPDATE

  • Are you thinking 9:30 start riding or 9:30 train depart?

  • 9:30 start in Eton.

  • Just got the all clear to do this one.

  • Nice one Nath.

  • @Ricky can you please edit thread title to add date? Sorry I cocked it up.

  • I might ride to the start?

  • This ride looks amazing! I love this part of the world, such quality place names we will go through.

    Crazies hill
    Cockpole green
    Lower assenden
    Middle assenden
    Stoners common

  • Plenty of opportunity for some vlogging

  • I will ride to start from RMD.

  • Route updated above.

I have re-routed the return leg to take in Britwell Hill.

    Sorry not sorry.

  • Having a look at train times for anyone getting the train. Waterloo seems to be running a reduced service so Paddington to Maidenhead is a better and quicker option.

The ride goes through Maidenhead riverside so easy pick up there.

As mentioned I will aim to ride to Eton and we can pick up anyone there (Thai orchid car park).

Having said all this only Nath is riding from east.

  • Who is getting the train at Waterloo?

  • I will be driving to Eton as need to make a swift departure afterwards to drive up north.

  • @Vedif you want to invite any blacktop's on your ride feel free. @dave_mac is already riding though

  • Nath Paddington may be better option.

  • Wow. It takes almost 2 hours from Balham and the train times suck. :(

  • Jay - meet at Paddington? I think one of the lines is down unfortunately.

  • I have extended invite to Anthony who has already ridden with us lots.

  • he's on the forum now and rode last week.

  • The more I look at the train journeys to get there, the more I consider just riding to the start...

  • At least its flat. I will most likely ride from Richmond so we can hook up.

  • What time are you leaving Richmond?

  • If you don't want to ride to the start then the 08:26 from Richmond gets to Windsor & Eton Riverside at 09:12

According to Southwest trains website there are no issues on Sunday with that route.

  • I might have mentioned to you @Ved that my aunt lives in Cuxham (about 1 mile from Watlington where we hang a left for Britwell). If people are keen she has offered to supply coffee and perhaps even some cake...
