It’s a good day out for kids, as long as they don’t mind walking. There’s a good maze and some excellent outdoor playgrounds, plus the castle itself.

Cool, thanks Andy.

Incredibly Cross on Friday is in a SE postcode location. They’ll reveal exactly where on Thursday lunchtime.

I'm sure when I first started CX the vids I watched about dismounts said to swing your leg over and behind the bike, then place it down between your other foot and the frame, before unclipping the other foot. But now they all show the swung over leg going behind the other leg.
Which is right? Or are both of them right?

Waits for Andyp to tell us how it used to be done before the war.

But they both work. Down to preference mostly.

There is no right, there is only what works for you.

It's about speed of transition and personal preference. If you put the foot between the pedal foot and the frame you're in step for running. If I've understood and explained.

That's sort of what I thought. Not tried the other way, will have a practice on it.

Understood 100%

I've tried repeatedly to master the right leg between the left leg and the frame technique, but it just doesn't feel right to me, and you frequently bash your ankle on the crank, so I've given up. I completely get that it means you can be in step as you start running, but don't think there is any significant performance loss by doing it the other way.

When you weigh it up against hip fractures....

It completely depends on what type of riding you're doing, i.e. I'd recommend something completely different for racing over arseing about in the woods.

Too fragile and prone to sidewall cuts.

You recommended them to me you bastard!

Sorry I genuinely was not trying to start a tyre war. Am just looking at rubber options for my new cross bike
BTW that Trek Crockett Disc SSCX is super.

I was joking. Do you plan on racing, or riding local bridleways and byways, or something else?

That SS bike looks nice Andy
Leeds Castle is a no go for me. Emma is away. Might come along with the kids and cheer you on, then go to see the castle.
